In this compelling episode of Cribwolf Talks, host Lino Fera sits down with Rabia Khedr — a nationally recognized advocate, leader, and changemaker dedicated to advancing equity, accessibility, and justice.

Rabia is the National Director of Disability Without Poverty and CEO of DEEN Support Services. Her distinguished career includes leadership roles with Accessibility Standards Canada, the Ontario Human Rights Commission, and the Minister’s Disability Advisory Group, where she continues to influence policy and drive meaningful change across Canada.

A founder of Race and Disability Canada and a board member with the Muslim Council of Peel and the Federation of Muslim Women, Rabia brings a critical intersectional lens to her work. Drawing from her lived experience as a blind woman and as an advocate for siblings with intellectual disabilities, she offers insights that are both deeply personal and profoundly impactful.

In this episode, Rabia unpacks a critical and deeply human issue affecting individuals with developmental disabilities across Ontario. At the heart of the discussion is the arbitrary relocation of individuals with developmental disabilities from their homes across Mississauga, Milton, Georgetown, and Burlington into a single facility in Oakville—amid an ongoing labour dispute at Central West Specialized Developmental Services (CWSDS).

She speaks candidly about the impact of these sudden disruptions—how being uprooted from familiar environments and trusted supports can have serious consequences for individuals with complex care needs, affecting their safety, dignity, and overall well-being.

🎙️ In this episode, we explore:
• The real-life impact of displacement on people with developmental disabilities
• Why consent, stability, and continuity of care are essential
• Safety concerns when familiar supports and trained staff are removed
• The intersection of policy decisions and human rights

Grounded in lived experience and advocacy, Rabia brings clarity and urgency to a situation that demands attention.
